What are the AI NVR ports that are open for connection?

The AI NVR allowable ports are:
  • port 22 for SSH connection
  • port 80 for HTTP connection
  • port 443 for HTTPS connection.
No other ports are opened for network security.

Is your solution camera-agnostic?

Yes, our system can work with all ONVIF IP-based cameras. As long as we can get a feed from the camera from the internet into the monitoring center, it will work with the software.

Monitoring, Storage and Other Services

Storage

How do you erase searched files or content of the hard drive in the AI NVR server?

For uploaded files, there's a Delete button ("trashcan" icon) next to every file in file management. For metadata results of camera streams, new data will automatically overwrite old ones when the system is out of storage space. For example, if the storage is only for 7 days, day-8 data will overwrite day-1 data.

If we had N clients with X cameras per client, is there a way to estimate the amount of storage that we would need and what would be the cost?

Assuming you mean storage in a network video recorder (NVR), we can provide you NVR from our partner QNAP. What are the best practices that IronYun suggests for storage and retention and who are some good partners for storage?

Yes, there are two ways to download the metadata:

Our company would like to work with a monitoring partner. Who would you recommend?

IronYun produces the analytics software to make monitoring more efficient with quicker search time and higher-accuracy alerts (low false positive). Our analytics software can integrate with any VMS for monitoring. What frame rates do we use when retrieving images from the cameras?

We cannot control the frame rate that the camera streams to us. But, depending on the function, we choose how many frames per second to process and discard the extras in order to maximize both processing efficiency and accuracy. The number of frames per second to process is not a user-configurable setting. We also perform motion detection before object recognition. For example, if there is a parked car, we only generate a new video search result when the car moves.

Yes, we display real-time alerts for events. The alerts can be configured for any combination of objects, people, and types of events, e.g., loitering.

How many users can simultaneously access IronYun AI NVR server?

As many as you need and as the network bandwidth allows.

Do you have a document or flowchart to help us understand the staff requirements to run your system?

Our goal is to make the system as easy to run as possible, so as not to require any security field-specific background. We provide you with the user guide and installation manual for AI NVR. The installation and configuration process should not take more than 1 hour from unpackaging. Other than that, all you need is familiarity with network configuration (IP address, DNS server, etc.) to get the system up and running in your network, and all other configuration is done via the browser (Chrome). If you can provide us TeamViewer access to your computer and device, we can assist you in the setup.

Can you provide references we can contact?

Yes, we can provide multiple references in the US, Japan, Taiwan, and other countries.

Can you provide best practice white paper/document?

We can provide customer success stories, use cases, technical white paper, best practice documentation after we have signed the NDA agreements.

What is the turnaround time for returned equipment?

We have not experienced many returned equipment; the typical turnaround time is 2-3 weeks.

How is the RMA process setup?

For the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process, the customer will email or call our customer support line and get an RMA approval to ship the products back.

Who is the first line of support when we need something?

Depending on your region, we have tier-1 support via email, telephone or Skype. Tier-2 support is also available from our Taiwan customer service operations team.

Do we have full access to the system, or does IronYun have access to the system and data? It is best practice for the owner have full access. How do you log access?

The IronYun AI appliance is an "on-premise" solution. You as the systems administrator have full control of the data; in fact, only you have the rights to the data. You can elect to share the data to your clients via a cloud infrastructure; typically, that requires you to set up the user access rights policy.

What are your InfoSec needs and requirements?

Object Types

Object Type: Can I request a new object type to be detected?

Yes, we always welcome proposals of the use case of new object types that are not yet included in our AI models, based on which we can train the AI models to detect new object types. We are constantly increasing the number of object types and their accuracy in our model, which are prioritized based on the scale and use case of the projects. Do I need to train the AI model?

No, the user does not need to train the AI model. IronYun AI models are pre-trained by our engineers and ready to deploy at customer site out-of-the-box from day 1. In other words, the AI models have learned to recognize the objects listed in the keyword list (available to the user for reference), and there is no calibration required to adapt the unit to its operating environment.

Can I use the same AI appliance for different models?

Yes. The same AI NVR appliance can be used for different AI models (General Model, Fire Model, Weapon Model, etc.) by activating the model as necessary in System > AI Model. However, the models cannot be activated simultaneously; the activation of each model will apply to all functions and cameras in the network of the AI NVR appliance, and only one model is applied at a time.

No, the video is not changed. The product analyzes the video and saves the metadata separately in the device AI storage. The video remains in the network video recorder (NVR).

Is there a client portal that allows the client to login and see activity and reports?

Yes, our user without admin access can log into the system to view the activity and reports.

Do we have full access to the system, or does IronYun have access to the system and data? It is best practice for the owner have full access. How do you log access?

Alerts

I want the software to recognize events that occur, which will be viewed on the security guards screen on the monitoring center. However, I do not want to have the guards looking at screens with no events. Can IronYun solution display events?

False Alarm: I’m getting too many false alarms. What can I do to increase the accuracy and reduce the number of false alarms?

When you have made sure that the alert is correctly set for the given object type(s) to be detected, please do the following steps:
  1. Deselect all irrelevant object types, e.g., vehicles (“car”, “bicycle”, etc.) in indoor environment, or object types that you are not interested in detecting in Camera Configuration
  2. For the relevant object type(s) to be detected and trigger alerts, increase the Confidence level and adjust min/max size

Upgrade & Update

Do you push updates for firmware?

We do software upgrades that sometimes can involve firmware code upgrade, especially GPU firmware, device drivers that are needed to fix bugs or improve the performance.

What is your update cycle and roadmap?

A new software version is released approximately every 3 months, including patches and major function/feature updates. Customers can elect not to update/upgrade if the newer release does not impact the operations of the existing systems.

Do you push updates?

If I install the AI in a government data center and have restricted access, I am only allowed to use non executable file on USB connected to the appliance, how should I upgrade the AI?

It would be easiest if you can plug the USB drive into one of the computers in the private network. Then, you can upgrade from that computer using the browser. Since the USB only contains TAR files, it is non-executable to the Windows computer.

Can AI be upgraded locally with files on a USB connected to appliance?

Yes, you can plug a USB into a laptop and upgrade from there using the browser.

How do I upgrade the software?

Maintenance

What is the failure rate of the appliance?

To-date, the failure rate of our appliance is less than 2%. Our most common failures are from hard disk (HDD) failure due to normal wear and tear. We have redundancy built into the VSA-5xx enterprise-grade appliance. The system is protected by RAID 0/1/5/6. For a RAID 5 configuration, the server can tolerate one HDD failure. Once in a blue moon, the power supply and server cooling fans will fail. Again, for the enterprise-grade VSA-5xx appliance, there are dual power supplies and redundant cooling fans that can safeguard against single-point hardware component failures.

Warranty

If we prefer to buy in bulk due to expansion or budgeting reasons, could the warranty begin upon installation instead of shipment?

We can start the warranty from installation; provided that from shipping to installation is no longer than 30 days. As you can imagine, we don't want to have 6-9 months of lag time from shipping to deployment. The situation is similar to purchasing a PC from Best Buy, where the warranty begins on the day of purchase and not when the box is opened. If you anticipate inventory issues; assuming you have the volume, we can have our distributor do the stocking for you for a fee.

How is the RMA process setup?

If we place 36 cameras in the 32 camera box, does that void the warranty? What if anything will void the warranty?

No, it does not void the warranty. To prevent users from experiencing performance degradation, our licensing manager currently will actually prevent the overloading of the system (i.e., not allow the overloading of cameras and licensed analytics that exceed the hardware spec).

When does the warranty period begin?

The day of shipment of our software or appliance product to the customer.

What is the warranty on the equipment that we buy from you?

The warranty of software and hardware in the first year is included in the purchase. For the second year onward, the service & software upgrade maintenance cost is 15% of software license fees.
